Website http://co-opa.com September 2019, Vol. 19, Issue 9 President's Message: Per the usual, our monthly CO-OPA meeting is this Third Thursday, September 19th, at 6pm. Still in the Bend Builder's Assist, thanks to Mike Robertson allowing us to use his space. The street address is 63030 Powell Butte Hwy (on the south west corner of the airport). Bring something tasty top share at our 6:30pm potluck. Then we will finish up a short informal meeting a 7pm. This month's Fly-out forecast for KBDN looks good. Sunny, high of 72F and winds 5 to 10. Most of the state looks good too, except for the usual morning gunk in the valley. Many destination options, so let's pick a good one before fall weather settles in hard. Sunriver is out due to runway construction there. Sadly the Jordan Chicken Run forecast for Sunday looks bad. Overcast, showers, and thunderstorms, for both Bend and Salem. Oregon International Airshow: The Oregon International Airshow is moving to McMinnville Airport (MMV) on the 20th to the 22nd of September. Their featured performers this year are the Royal Airforce Red Arrows. More information on their web site: https://www.oregonairshow.com/ Late Breaking News: There are unconfirmed reports that Leading Edge has sold off the KBDN FBO operation to a large Canadian FBO company. Just the FBO, not the flight school. More details next month. Also unconfirmed, is that the KBDN Airport Manager, Gary Judd, is looking to retire. We'll miss his management skills, maybe he'll have more time to fly his airplane. The City has been looking for his replacement. Calendar: 19 September -- Monthly Meeting 21 September -- Monthly Fly-out 21-23 September -- OR Airshow MMV 22 September -- Jordan Chicken Run 17 October -- Monthly Meeting 19 October -- Monthly Fly-out 21 November -- Monthly Meeting 23 November -- Monthly Fly-out August Fly-Out: There have been a lot of rainy days in the last few months, but our Fly-out day had great weather. We headed out to the Nampa Idaho airport (KNAM) to see the Warhawk Museum. For some reason people think it is far away, and over mountains. The trip only took 90 minutes, never higher than 7,500 feet. The Tower Grill served up a fine meal, a fine view of the airport, and pleasant conversations with the locals. Then a short walk to the Museum, which is not in an obvious location. Of course they have a lot of cool planes: a P-51B on skies, a P-51D, a Fokker Triplane, multiple MIGs, etc. The special part is the large quantities of rare aviation paraphanalia, war booty, uniforms, personal histories and so much more.
